Obituary

Gwen Lee Comfort (Andrews) passed away August 9, 2015 in Bellingham, WA. Gwen was born in Tallahassee, FL on November 21,1971. She was married to her loving husband, Jay Comfort, on April 19, 1997 in Las Vegas, NV.
After graduating from Washington State University, Gwen worked successfully in several vocations. She found her calling by opening, along with friends, Salon Elysium located in Fairhaven. Gwen then opened her own – Gwen’s Red Door Salon, and ran this business for many years until she could no longer, due to her battle with cancer.
Gwen had numerous “loves” – such as stained glass, horror movies, books, Mercedes convertibles, the lazy river at the MGM Grand, and of course her dog “Sushi”.
Gwen was loved by the staff at the Bellingham Cancer Center as she touched many lives in her volunteering efforts there, while also undergoing her own cancer treatment.
Gwen is survived by her husband Jay Comfort of Bellingham,WA., her mother Sherry Andrews (Jim), father Tony Andrews (Tina) and her sister Vikki Andrews (Matt).
Private memorial services will be held for Gwen at Greenacres Memorial Park. In Lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to one of the following : Whatcom Humane Society or Ronald McDonald House.

  1. Gwen was a class act. Even if you hadn’t seen her in a long while, she had a gift for making you feel as though it was just a few days ago, and you were a special friend. Her grace and warmth will be terribly missed. Our very sincere condolences Jay, to you and your family.
