Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gregory Allen Dillard, who departed this world on October 4, 2024, at the Hospice House in Bellingham, surrounded by loved ones. Born on May 14, 1969, in Bellingham, Washington, Greg touched the lives of many throughout his 55 years of life, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and unwavering love.

Greg was the cherished son of Penelope and Roy Dillard, who both preceded him in death. He is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Jacqueline Dillard, and his three grandchildren, Skylar, Amelia, and Eleanor, who were the light of his life. He is also survived by his ex-wife, Tracey Munkres.

Greg attended Sehome High School, where he began to cultivate the easy-going and fun-loving spirit that would define him throughout his life. His character was a blend of patience, curiosity, intelligence, and a remarkable sense of humor that endeared him to everyone he met. He approached life with a can-do attitude, always ready to lend a hand, and was known for his reliability and dependability. A member of Christ the King Church in Bellingham, Greg embodied the values of community and compassion. His faith was a guiding force in his life, and he found solace and strength in his church family.

Throughout his life, Greg enjoyed various hobbies and interests that brought him joy and fulfillment. He loved spending time with his family and his beloved cats, sharing laughter and love during countless BBQs with friends and family. He was an avid fisherman, a skilled mechanic, and a dedicated handyman, always finding satisfaction in fixing things and making them better. His playful spirit came alive through games of pinochle and hacky sack, where he connected with friends and family in the most joyful ways.

Greg faced the challenges of life, including his battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease), with remarkable strength and grace. His kindness and gentle demeanor shone through, even in the most difficult of times, and he remained a beacon of hope and inspiration to those around him.

As we remember Greg, we extend our deepest gratitude to the caregivers who provided him with exceptional care during his final months. Your compassion and dedication made a significant difference in his life, and we are eternally thankful for your kindness. A private memorial service will be held to honor Greg’s memory, as we gather to celebrate the life of a remarkable man. Though he is no longer with us, Greg’s spirit will forever live on in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved him.

Rest in peace, Gregory Allen Dillard. You will be dearly missed, but your legacy of love, laughter, and generosity will continue to inspire all of us.
