Grace Virginia Summers

Passed: January 21, 2022

Home from the earthly journey,
Safe for eternity
All that the Savior promised
That is what Heaven will be.
Precious Lord, linger near
When my life is almost gone
Lead me on to the light,
Take my hand, precious Lord
Lead me home.

Grace Virginia Summers entered Heaven’s Glory on January 21, 2022.  She was born on March 25, 1923 to Thomas & Virginia Spargo, in Alcomdale, Alberta.

After graduating from high school in Calgary, Alberta, she served with the Women’s Royal Canadian Navy during WWII.  After her discharge from the service, she met Jim Summers who served in the Canadian Army.  They were married September 27, 1947 in Vancouver, BC.

In 1968, with their two sons Ken and Kerry, they joined the staff of the Firs Bible & Missionary Conference in Bellingham, WA.  Following their service at the Firs they served three years at Cedar Springs Christian Retreat in Sumas, WA before retiring to Bellingham.

For many years Grace enjoyed making crafts and was well known for her high standard of excellence in her crafts.  She had many devoted customers who returned year after year.

“Mom, you were and still are an inspiration to us all.  Your strength, generosity, and loving spirit were second to none.  You will be greatly missed as a role model, friend, and encourager.  You may be gone but will never be forgotten.  Now you can spend eternity with your Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ and be united with your loving husband Jim, who has been waiting patiently for you.”

Grace is survived by her brother Delmar Spargo, two sons, Ken (Kim) Summers, Kerry (Viola) Summers, grandchildren Nicole Antle, Eric Summers, and Monice (Joel) Pense, six great grandchildren, Caleb, Gracie, Buzz, Mackenzie, Xavier, and Zoe, and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV) – Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and he will make your paths straight.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday February 19, 2022 at 2pm at Northwest Baptist Church (3545 Northwest Ave. Bellingham, WA). Or you may watch the livestream of the service on YouTube and search “Northwest Church Bellingham.”

In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated for two ministries that were near and dear to her heart: Northwest Baptist Church (Bellingham, WA) or Lighthouse Mission Ministries (Bellingham, WA).

Please share your memories of Grace in her online guestbook.

Kerry, Ken and family; We are so sorry to hear about your loss. I only had a chance to talk to Grace just a handful of times but she was such an amazing woman! Please know that we are supporting your family in our hearts and in our prayers. May God bless you all in a very special way.
