  1. So sorry to hear the loss of uncle Gordon. He was truly an amazing man. He will be missed. Love and prayers to auntie Helen and Ubba.

  2. Our sincerest and deepest condolences to the familyWe’re gonna miss Uncle Gordy

  3. I love Uncle Gordon, along with my other uncles, gave me inspiration, and I regarded them as heroes. Uncle Gordon was such a strong athlete. I was fortunate to pull with him and uncle Dick on the Lone Wolf as a teenager. When I felt their power surging through that canoe, I wished I could be as strong as them. I never was, but I was inspired and always goaded by uncle to do better or at least do my best. Whenever I did something good, and Uncle happened to be there, he’d give me one of those famous quotes: “Eee Kid! ‘Bout time!”
I know I’m not the only one, but his timing was always so spot on. EE Kid!
As tough as we always thought he was, he was actually always gentle with us. We, as kids, just had tons of respect for him, for the man he was and we actually idolized him. He was living a life we wanted to live and be like him or try to be like him.
He was a Golden Gloves boxer, and sometimes we’d get to watch a boxing match with him or talk about boxing or boxers.
When I am sometimes asked to speak to struggling students, I would often refer to my admiration for my uncle Gordon.
As a kid uncle did so many cool things, he became an accomplished welder, fisherman, canoe paddler, basketball player, and a fantastic role model of hard work, optimism and can-do attitude. As a kid and even all the more, as a grown man, he’s my hero.
When he played basketball, they’d rebound, outlet pass, the defense would crowd down the key, but without looking they’d pass behind their back for a quick J and race back down to defend as the visitors would join them shaking their heads, wondering what was happening to them. Good times.
I love Uncle Gordon. I’m sorry for my Aunt Helen, and Ubba. I’ll always miss Uncle Gordon, but I’ll always try to be like the best part of him, and remember him to my students, and to honor him as his nephew. Eee Kid! ‘Bout time.
