Obituary
In Loving Memory,
Gloria Gwen Ruben Braveheart Fotu
Gloria Brave Heart, age 76, of Ferndale, WA, peacefully passed away in her sleep on July 14, 2024. Born on February 20, 1948, in Seattle, Washington, to Karl Henry Overbey and Christina Mae (Sampson) Overbey, an enrolled member of the Coeur d’Alene Tribe, Gloria led a vibrant and impactful life.
She attended Ephrata High School. After which she pursued her passion for art at Fairhaven College, Western Washington University, earning her BA degree in art. As an entrepreneur, she successfully operated several businesses throughout her life. In the late 1980s, she owned and operated the popular Daybreak Collection clothing store in the Fairhaven Marketplace building in Fairhaven, WA.
Gloria’s zest for life was evident in her passion for sharing her Bahai faith, her love for travel, and her free-spirited nature. Her adventures took her across the United States and to far-off places such as Australia, China, Israel, and Tonga. Known for her magnetic personality and authenticity, Gloria always went out of her way to help others.
Gloria raised three children, Jove Rubenstein, Jorge “Jojo” Ruben, and Jon Goslin, in Bellingham, WA. She truly loved and cherished her family. She loved her children deeply and adored her grandchildren. She treasured the time spent with them and always wished for more whenever it was time to leave.
She enjoyed spending time with her friends. Together, Gloria and Lovey embarked on countless road trips with no set destination, simply filling up the gas tank and seeing where the road took them. She loved her movie nights with Michael & Margie who were her friends for many years.
She is survived by her children Jove, Jorge, and Jon; her grandchildren Jon and Joseph Goslin; and several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her parents, her sisters Gail Morin and Karen Schuy, and her stepsiblings Ray Etta Nulik, Mary Watts, and Kenneth Anderson.
Gloria leaves behind a legacy of love, adventure, and kindness to those who knew her.
A small service will be held in Ferndale, Washington, where Gloria will be laid to rest in Enterprise Cemetery with a Celebration of Life to follow.

I am so sorry to hear about Gloria. I was just told today. I knew her through her friendship with my sis-in-law Lovey , as well as her marriage to my cousin . (that one was against my advice. ). Lesson learned. RIP my friend.

Grandma Gloria was much loved by her 2 Grandsons, Jon Adain Goslin, and Joseph Ryan Goslin. And she loved and was proud of both boys. The oldest one Jon is leaving for college in a week and he is an honors scholar. Her younger grandson Joseph will be finishing his senior year and also two nights a week starting his classes at junior college to become an electrician. She was so thoughtful of the boys and especially at Christmas and birthdays sent them t-shirts and hoodies all with a native American theme and they wore these proudly.
She will be so missed by these boys.

Aiden. My son’s middle name. Is Aiden, not Adain. I didn’t want my sons to have contact with her because she was a potential murderer when I was 8, if not for my siblings preventing her from drowning me in the bathtub.

I’d also appreciate knowing where she’s buried, if she was buried.. I wasn’t invited to the funeral. Imagine that, the youngest offspring not invited to his own mother’s funeral. I wish it wasn’t the reality, thank you for the kind words, but the truth would have been better. Mom preferred flowery pictures of fragrant words, I preferred brutal honesty.
