Obituary

Glen Goforth, 66, passed away peacefully at home on January 19th after succumbing to injuries caused by a 25 year battle with the notorious criminal, Cancer, whose plight could not be outmatched though the effort was valiant.
Civilians knew him as the guy who left huge tips, streaked by at the beach, approached them to compliment their clothing/tattoo/overall coolness, randomly broke out in song and sweet dance moves to the music playing at the store/bank/restaurant, and definitely flashed a smile as bright as the sun. Family and Friends knew him as a generous and spontaneous free-spirit, with an exceptionally creative mind, infectious zest for life, adoration of his treasured granddaughters, fondness of practical jokes, annoying his wife, skinny dipping, woodland animal feeding, martini drinking, bringing the life to the party – and dislike of peas and anything that didn’t involve a good time.
When he wasn’t fighting crime, he was teaching art classes and invoking laughter at Adult Day Health and the Cancer Center at St. Joes. He was attending with honor every performance, recital, regatta, and sporting event his daughters and granddaughters ever had. He was sharing stories and laughter in the living rooms of so many good friends, going on adventures across the globe with those who loved sharing the adventure, exchanging smiles and hellos on the trail with neighbors and strangers, and always found the joy in the world around him. He was loved by many.
Glen is left in spirit by his mother, Dorothy Kuhblank, his wife of 41 years, Sandy Goforth, daughters Amber Noskoff and Danielle Harris, sons-in-law Chris Noskoff and Zach Harris, granddaughters Sierra and Sydney Noskoff, mother-in-law Earnestine Essex, and many cherished friends.
A celebration of Glen’s life will take place on Tuesday, January 26th at 1:00pm at the First Congregational Church, 2401 Cornwall Avenue, in Bellingham.
Donations in his name can be made to the Whatcom Center for Early Learning and Whatcom Hospice.
Onward, Glen.

Glen brought much joy and pleasure to those of us who attended the art classes at the cancer center. He helped us to remember who we are, artists, not victims. At whatever level we were artistically, from beginner to more accomplished, he always found something to celebrate in our art. We were all blessed in knowing him and learning from him.
