Gladys F. Oltman passed away on May 7, 2014. She was born to William and Edythe Sheppard on Dec 12, 1918 in Druid Saskatchewan, Canada. She was the youngest of four children, two brothers, Frank and Woodrow and one sister, Anita. Her family moved to Selah, Washington in 1926 where she attended school until the family moved to Bellingham in 1935. Gladys graduated from Meridian High School in 1936.
In 1939 Gladys married, Wesley Oltman who was her partner for over 60 years. She is survived by her daughter, Joyce (Dennis) Ellingson, son, Fred (Joan) Oltman and sister in-law, Ruth Oltman. Gladys has 8 grandchildren, Kathy (Paul) Michaelson, Jim (Reen) Keough, John Keough, Michele (Phil) McNamee, Heidi (Joe) Carpenter, Steve (Tiffany) Oltman, David (Stacy) Oltman, and Joe (Laura) Oltman, 14 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Gladys and her husband were enthusiastic gardeners. She was a charter member of the DUPI Garden Club. She was also a member of the Gooseberry Point Fire Auxiliary, Orthopedic Club, Birthday Club and a Den Mother for Cub Scouts.
She and Wes travelled around the U.S. in a camper and spent several winters in Arizona enjoying the sun.

Farewell Tribute Information

A memorial service for Gladys will be held on Friday May 16, 2:30 pm at Moles Farewell Tributes – Greenacres, 5700 Northwest Dr. in Ferndale. Donations Information

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Meridian High School Scholarship Fund.
