Obituary

Bellingham, WA

George A. Richardson, age 98 of Bellingham, WA (Laurel area) passed away on Oct. 02, 2013. George was born July 5, 1915 in Startup, WA, and graduated from Meridian High School. George lived most of his life on the homestead in Laurel with Olive, his wife, who he met at a skating rink. He farmed, logged, and was a commercial fisherman for many years. He loved life, always had a good joke to tell, and was a grateful man who loved his God and family. He also loved to roller skate, which he did into his early 80s, enjoyed coffee at the Hilltop, and playing cribbage with his friends. On Tuesdays, he met some of his children for coffee and donuts at Dorris Donuts in Lynden. He could fix just about anything, but not always in a conventional way. He loved music and had a great voice. He sang in the church choir, and also in a grange quartet, which won at state. He was a faithful member of the Laurel Community Baptist Church. George is preceded in death by his father Henry, mother Lucy, wife Olive, brother Herbert, his twin Myron Richardson, sisters Mary Sorenson, Grace Loveland, and Mildred Andrews. He is survived by his children Sarah McDowell (Jerry & family), Georgia McGlinn (John & family), Helen Petersen (Ray & family), Bill Richardson, Mary Jensen (Mike & family), Leila Minyard (Dan & family), 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He is with His Lord, and we will miss him greatly. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Whatcom Hospice and son Bill Richardson.
