Obituary

Gary Edmond Este, age 84, passed away on Jan. 28, 2017 in Bellingham, Washington. Gary was born on Nov. 3, 1932 in Grass Valley, California to Frank Este and Oralee Burchette. Gary served in the U.S. Army for over 20 years, receiving numerous commendations and awards. Later, his job as an engineer, logistics coordinator, and cargo control supervisor, took him all over the world, from Colorado and Idaho, to Zaire, Saudi Arabia and the South Pacific. Upon retirement, Gary purchased property in Honduras, Central America and established an exotic flower and coffee plantation which he later donated to his brothers of Masonic Lodge 861.

Gary is remembered as a kind, generous, and honorable man with many interests. He loved skiing, golfing, travelling, photography, marksmanship, treasure hunting, camping, prospecting, and spending time in Alaska. He was a member of the Master Mason Lodge 861, American Military Scottish Rite Bodies, 32nd Degree Valley of NATO, and more.

Gary is predeceased by his father Frank, his mother Oralee, and son Gary Jr. He is survived by his three daughters: Patty Kreun, Diane Barrett, and Nancy Gromo, all of central and northern California, as well as six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
