Floyd Benson Sawyer of Custer, WA passed away on March 9, 2022, at the age of 74, of natural causes, in his home.

He was born October 20, 1947, in Bellingham, WA, the second child of Everette and Betty (Moler) Sawyer,

He married Bonnie Curtright in November of 1967 and they had 3 children. They later divorced, and he remarried, to Patty Hickenbottom in June of 1987. They were still married at his passing.

Floyd was preceded in death by both of his parents, Everette in 1983 and Betty in 2008, his sister Ida Mae Rasmussen in 2001, his stepson Shawn Trail in 1994, and grandson Avery Austin in 2016.

Floyd served in the Army, fought in Vietnam, loved going on motorcycle rides, enjoyed watching football and going out to eat monthly with a group of friends. He adored his and Patty’s Doberman Mandy (may she rest in peace) and loved his many tattoos.

Floyd was always the life of the party and was always the one you heard laughing first and the loudest. He also enjoyed spoiling his many grandchildren and he will be greatly missed.

  1. I am saddened to learn of the passing of my cousin, Ben Sawyer.
The times I spent with Ben and Ida Mae, his sister, were few but very fun and memorable.
Your feelings of loss this year can only be imagined. We are so blessed that Jesus Christ has overcome death that we shall rise from the dead as he did. This plus God’s forgiveness through Christ’s intervention, give us all great reason to be of good courage, serving one another.
    Best wishes to all.
