Obituary
Our beloved mother, wife, sister, and friend to so many has gone home to be with the Lord. On May 15th Flora passed away with her son by her side.
Flora was born in Idaho in 1919 to her loving parents Ettore and Catterina Mariotto. At a young age, Flora and her family moved to Whatcom County where she grew-up, graduating from Mt. Baker High School in 1939.
While visiting Michigan to care for her ailing sister, she met her loving husband Howard. Flora and Howard were married in Michigan in 1942. In the 1950s Flora and Howard moved to Seattle and then to California. They spent many years living in CA, until Howard’s retirement from Burbank Unified School District. After retirement, they made their home in Whatcom County, where Flora lived until her passing.
Flora enjoyed gardening, dancing and volunteering. She was a lifelong volunteer at the Bellingham Senior Center and enjoyed her time there, coordinating events and serving coffee. She loved to decorate the center for special holidays, especially Christmas, and thoroughly enjoyed serving and caring for all Whatcom County resident visitors.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Howard, her loving parents Ettore and Catterina Mariotto, and sisters Clara Ziegler and Nora Anderson.
She is survived by her son Michael Nichols and Fiance Jodi,brother Elo Mariotto of Bellingham, sisters Cecelia Glidden of Seattle and Lucy Fredrickson of Bellingham, and several nieces and nephews.
Farewell Tribute Information
Services will be held at Greenacres on Friday, May 30th, beginning with visitation at 11:00AM, a funeral service at 12:00PM, a graveside service at 1:00PM, and a reception to follow. You may share your thoughts and memories of Flora at www.farewelltributes.com

My sincerest condolences to Flora’s family and friends. May you find comfort in the promise at Revelation 21:4 where it says “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore the former things have passed away.” I am truly sorry for your loss.

I loved Aunt Flo. She was always so nice to me when I would come for a visit. She knew I loved jewelry, and on one visit she gave me a sterling silver ring. Fifty years later I still have that ring and I wear it often. I will miss her.
