Obituary

Alberta Fay Genger passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2012. She spent the last days of her life surrounded by the love and comfort of her family in the warm and caring surroundings of the Hospice House.

Fay was born in Bellingham, WA on March 11, 1927, the only child of her loving parents, Cecil and Dewey Hite. She grew up in Bellingham and attended Bellingham High School where she met her lifelong sweetheart, Ted Genger, Sr. Fay and Ted married on March 29, 1947 in Bellingham and theirs has been a true love story, and an incredible example to their children and grandchildren of care and devotion.

Fay worked for several years for the phone company until making the decision to be a full-time homemaker and mother a job she did beyond measure. In addition, Fay gave many hours volunteering for the Whatcom Museum Society, St. Lukes Hospital, St. Joes Lifeline, and superintending Sunday school. She also enjoyed ceramics, square dancing, and water aerobics. Traveling was a favorite and whether with her womens travel groups, with her family, with other couples, or just with Ted, she saw much of the world. Fay and Ted spent many happy years yachting, motor homing, and spending winters in Palm Desert.

A dedicated member of Birchwood Presbyterian Church all of her life, Fay held a strong faith and truly valued her years with her Small Group. She thoroughly loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and created many memories for us, especially all of the good times spent at the lake house. We will all remember her as our one and only Gogo.

Fay is survived by her husband, Ted, Sr., of Bellingham; daughters, Susan Bluhm (Ron) of Redmond and Gayle Ann Chalfant (Scott) of Bellingham; son, Ted Genger, Jr., (Frances) of Ferndale; nine grandchildren, Christine Stubblefield(Roger), Erin OConnell, Matthew Chalfant (Lucy), and Jordan Chalfant, Erin Carius (Brandon), T.J., Madison, Carson, and Taryn Genger; two step-grandchildren, Sarah Bluhm Kinum (Jeff) and Ronnie Bluhm (Kelli); two great-grandchildren, Wyatt Stubblefield and Jackson Carius; and one step great-grandchild, Rowan Bluhm.

The family would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the staff at St. Josephs Hospital, Hospice, and in particular, the Hospice House.
