  1. Keith Bode says:

Mardel was a mainstay at DeWaard & Bode for most of my formative years. She made Mondays particularly interesting with office tales of the family’s never-ending cabin project on Waldron Island (including transport of a refrigerator and other building materials across the bow of their runabout while bobbing over 17 miles of salt water). She was rock solid and intensely proud of her children … pride coupled with motherly concern … Greg was very close to my age and the wear on her during his foray into logging was only thinly disguised.

Larry and Lynn and family so sorry to hear of your mothers passing. My prayers and thoughts are with you all.

  3. Extending our caring thoughts, sympathy & prayers to Lynn & Larry on the loss of your mother. Sincerely….Gerry (Ohmart) & John Sleeth, now living in Sun City AZ).

  4. Mardel, my mentor, my 2nd mother. She taught me so much, not only about bookkeeping but life in general. Always supportive, always honest. I’ll never forget the egg timer when she thought our coffee breaks were getting too long. I told her about my engagement before I told my parents, I trusted her and she understood. Years later, when I decided to get back into horses, both her and your Dad, Don, showed up at the Lynden fairgrounds to take a look at the horse I was thinking about purchasing. I’ll never forget them yelling “Wrong lead!!” Later, she handed down to me a beautiful stall blanket from one of their race horses. No horses now, but I hang onto that treasure & all the memories. I could go on & on – Waldron, fishing, DeWaard and Bode dinners and parties…

My love and sympathy to you. Kim (DeWaard) Sizemore

  5. Mardel was my mentor, my second Mom. She was such a part of my upbringing, launched me into a career that has been so fulfilling. Love her dearly!!!
