Obituary

Evelyn Naiomi Palmer was born on September 2, 1929 to Oliver and Ella Peterson in Zion, Illinois. She married Charles Farmer and had their first daughter, Janis. After Charles passed in 1955, Evelyn married Howard Palmer. Together they had her second daughter, Nancy. They did a lot of traveling, as Howard was in the military for 30 years. She also loved canning and gardening.
Evelyn is predeceased by Charles Farmer, Howard Palmer, her five siblings, and parents Ella and Oliver Peterson.
Survivors include her two daughters, Janis Henry and Nancy Dixon; granddaughters, Lisa Schjelderup (Roger), and Krista Dixon; grandsons, Michael Henry (Katie), Steven Dixon (Jocelynn), and Justin Dixon; sister, Mary Studebaker (Karl); her beloved great grandchildren, Will, Emma, and Drew Henry, and Patrick and Lizzie Schjelderup, who knew her as Nana; and was Auntie to numerous nieces and nephews.
She is home with her loved ones in Heaven and finally free from pain for the first time in many years.

Mom…my heart is heavy and I miss you so much. I hope you always realized how deeply you were loved my sweet, sweet mom. As much as I will mourn you leaving us…I am also able to rejoice that you are free from confusion and fear and most of all….FREE from pain. You leave behind an amazing family who are that way because of you. We will be ok. Hug our loved ones and RUN happily until we are with you again. Thank you for being the most loving, selfless mom there could ever be. I love you. “Janisrae”

I could not have asked for a better Grandma. She was and will always be my standard of what the perfect Grandma should be. Her unconditional love was immeasurable. Growing up she was a rock for me in sometimes stormy waters. She was always there to love me, encourage me, and to put me back in line when I strayed from doing the right thing or from being the person that she knew I could be. I am grateful that she lived long enough to see me start my own family and to share her love with my Wife and with our three children.
I love and miss you Grandma, but I know that Heaven is a better place with you there.
