Erma Eileen Jones, 90, passed away peacefully at Christian Health Care Center in Lynden, WA. on May 7, 2015.
Born on January 8, 1925 in Healy, KS to Wilton and Mabel Bowman, she grew up during the dust bowl days in the 1930’s in Western Kansas. She attended a one room school house in Jerome, where eight grades were taught.
On December 25, 1941 she married Urcel Devoe Jones at the Church of the Nazarene, Plainville, KS. She and Urcel lived in Lincoln, Nebraska until 1943 when he received a Medical Discharge from the Army Air Force. In 1945, they moved to a farm in Ferndale, Washington where they resided until moving to Bentonville, Arkansas to a poultry farm for a short time before returning to Ferndale. Erma retired from the Washington Net Factory, Blaine, WA in 1990.
During her younger years, she worked in the home caring for babies, cooking, and cleaning. Edith Jasper was a special friend who taught her to clean and wash the cream separator. Erma enjoyed many crafts including quilting and crocheting. Developing photos was a hobby she dabbled in and she enjoyed watching the birds at her bird feeder. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister and she cherished time spent with family.
Erma was preceded in death by her husband, Urcel Devoe in 1969 and daughters Shirley Ann Jones in 1949 and Beverly Jean Heinzl in 2013. Also preceding her were her brothers, Eldon Claymon Bowman, Wilton Haskell Bowman, Leonard Keith Bowman, and sister Wilma Pauline Rider.
