Obituary

He gently whispered in her ear, “It’s time for you to go. You’ve had your fun…your work is done…I’ve come to take you home.” Betty was taken by the Lord on January 25, 2016.
She was born in San Pedro, California on August 15, 1919. She moved to Bellingham, Washington with her husband, Peter Nubile, in 2005.
While on earth she lived an active life, winning medals for bowling, golf (even had a “hole in one.”), she loved to play her organ and sew. If fact, the last dress she made for herself was when she was 92 years old.
Her love of family was always upper most in her life. She was preceded in a death by her first husband and father of her two children, Jack Dillon, of San Pedro, CA (deceased in 1969), and son, John “Jack” Dillon, of San Pedro, CA (deceased in 2013).
She is survived by her husband, Peter Nubile, and daughter, Donna Giacchetti, of Bellingham. She leaves behind 7 grandchildren; Dan, Sheila, Mitch, Doreen, Michael, Joseph, and Jaimie, 16 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Betty felt so grateful to be able to be close by her daughter and and son-in-law, Lou (her “Sonny Boy”, deceased in 2014). She so appreciated living close to her granddaughter Doreen Drake (husband Derek and their triplet daughters, Danielle, Demi, and Desirae), as well as frequent visits from her grandsons, Mitch and Dan McCrae, and correspondence from her granddaughter, Sheila Howard (McCrae).
The last two years of Betty’s life was at Shuksan Healthcare (due to a fractured hip). The care and attention she received from the employees there prompted her to tell her daughter, “Thank you so much for bringing me here…I’m so happy how everyone treats me.”
To know her was to love her. She was such an inspiration of faith and perseverance. She taught us about God, love, forgiveness, and “no matter what your circumstance in life may be, always make the most of whatever the situation is…and smile.” She will be missed by all. Such a bright flame on the candle of life to go out.

Even though I had never met Aunt Betty in person, I really felt I knew her through her enlightening letters, complete with pictures of her life with my Uncle Peter. May you rest in peace Aunt Betty, and I know you are in a better place, as I look up to you.

  3. My heart goes out to your entire family. Betty was truly a remarkable person and a light in my life. I first met her when she moved to Bellingham and needed a new Mary Kay consultant.
Our visits filled a hole in my heart left when my grandma passed away, and I treasured the times we had together. She always shared stories of all of you and was so filled with love and pride, it was a delight to listen to her.

I wish you all peace and smiles when you remember her. Betty was the best.

    With love,
    Tanya

It is difficult to deal with the loss of someone we love. I hope you can find comfort in the scriptures. God is always there to comfort us as 2 Corinthians 1:3,4 reminds us. Cherish your memories together.
