Obituary

Elaine Esther Dick, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. She was born in 1934 and grew up in Bellingham, graduating from Meridian High School. In 1974, Elaine married Derald G. Dick Jr. in Bellingham, WA. Their love was marked by a spirit of adventure, and they shared many memories, including a life-changing 28-day trip to New Zealand, Australia, and Fiji.

Elaine was an active and passionate member of her community. She devoted much of her time to her children’s activities, from PTA and Cub Scouts to March of Dimes, and she was a fixture at many of their sports events. She was also a cherished member of the Red Hat’s Club. Elaine’s love for travel took her far and wide, from Alaska to Nova Scotia, from Cancun to Cabo, and from San Diego to Miami.

A woman with a big heart, Elaine worked in the 1970s for Uniflite, building yachts, but her greatest legacy was the kindness and generosity she showed everyone she met. Known for her caring nature, graciousness, and infectious humor, Elaine was always quick to share a laugh and offer a hand to those in need.

Elaine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Derald, who passed away in June of 2001. She is survived by her brother, John Bullene; her three sons from her first marriage, Glenn, Steve, and Dennis Farrington; her three stepchildren from her marriage to Derald, Steve, Dave, and Pam Madsen; and eight grandchildren, one of whom has passed, as well as several great-grandchildren. Elaine’s memory will live on through the many lives she touched with her boundless love and care.
