  1. Ed Brown was both our neighbor and Scoutmaster. He and my Dad had great times together when leading and teaching us innocents of Troop 19!

  2. My father, Robert Weihe, wishes to pass along his condolences to the Brown family. He worked with Ed for many years in the Bellingham School system as a fellow principal; he was at Geneva, Larrabee, Birchwood, Carl Cozier, and Whatcom. He had a high regard for Ed and was sorry to read about Ed’s passing. Dad will be 100 years old at the end of this year but his mind is sharp and he had some stories to share about Ed.
We are sorry about your loss.

  5. I am thankful to have had the pleasure and privilege of having Ed and Betty Brown as caring friends of our family. Ed and Dad (Duncan MacLeod) had a lot in common growing up on farms, serving in WWII, their being “tinkerers”, and sharing flying adventures in their Piper J3 Cubs. Ed led my Dad to get involved in Lion’s Club which gave him a good outlet to serve his community.
It seemed strange to me when a man I knew on a first name basis became my school principal. But when learning the difference between “principle” and “principal”…I thought of how my school principal was a “pal” and it helps me to this day.

I remember “Mr. Brown” orchestrating our field trips to his property off Britton Road (later sold and aptly called “Brownsville”) having us hike there from Silver Beach and trying our hand at pioneering skills. I bet it was his idea to have a few of us to perform “Casey at the Bat” at the 1976 Bicentennial celebration at Civic Field.

When I think of Ed Brown, I think: Story-teller, Risk-taking adventurer, Optimist, Creative, Humor, Laughter, Faithful, Dependable, Friend.
