Obituary
Edna Mae “Eddie” (Iverson) Johnstone, age 85, passed away quietly on Saturday morning, November 26, surrounded by family. She had a sweet nature, quiet brilliance, and a unique sense of humor. Her lifelong faith in Jesus never wavered. Her creativity went hand in hand with her curiosity. She leaves a legacy carved in wood, tatted in thread, molded in clay, painted in watercolor, bowed on a saw…and so many more.
Her favorite line, “I love you more,” captures the essence and depth of her love for family and friends, with “more” expressing an ever increasing love… even more than she could imagine.
Miss you Mom, Grandma, Eddie, Edna Mae, Mrs. Johnstone! Love YOU more!!
Services will be held on Sunday, January 29, 2017, 1:00pm, starting with a graveside gathering at Bayview Cemetery, 1420 Woburn St, Bellingham, WA 98229, followed by a Celebration of Life at Moles Farewell Tributes – Bellingham, 2465 Lakeway Dr, Bellingham, WA 98229.

I always remember her telling me” your looking good” whenever she talked to me on the phone. It always made me smile! I was so lucky to have her for my mother in law. While others complained I would simply get a big smile on my face and tell them or brag about how much I loved my mother in law! How gifted she was.. I loved to tell them how she played a saw… they were always impressed! I will really miss her and her sweetness. ” Love you Mom.. Your looking good!”

Many words are thought of. Memories flash like slides in the mind, but only silence comes from my lips. I can only try to express how I ‘feel’ but even that’s not good enough. You see, there are no words great enough to capture “Mom” Johnstone’s essence. Not enough words, to descibe the intricate details that made her, Edna Mae Iverson Johnstone.I thank her for taking me in as a kid, all she did for me and being a wonderful role model. She has always, and will always, hold a special place in my heart.
We will say “so long,” but never a goodbye.

I got to know Edna through Lakeview FM Church, especially when I started working for Ken in the late 1980’s. Edna always had a smile and a nice comment. But what I most remember her for is rhododendrons. She taught me to take the time to deadhead a rhody. I think of her EVERY spring/summer when I go outside to do this job. The few times I’ve missed it, I say to myself, “Edna knew what she was talking about” because the bush doesn’t look its best again until the next year.

To Aunt Edna Mae’s kids,
Though I won’t be able to attend due to the weather and my distance at the opposite corner of the state, my thoughts and prayers will be with you this Sunday. I didn’t get to know Aunt Edna Mae very well, but she made a strong positive impression on me during our occasional family get-togethers. I could tell she was a kind person, and that she raised a great bunch of kids. One thing I remember being really delighted with about her was watching her play her saw.
