Obituary

Edna Alberta (Bard) Larsen passed into the arms of Jesus at the age of 95. She was born August 24, 1919 in Edmonton, Alberta Canada to Otis and Mildred Bard. Her parents moved there to homestead a piece of land. For some reason it did not work out, and they all moved back to Montana when Edna was 3 months old. Shortly after that they moved to Spokane, WA. There she met Everett Larsen. They were married November 29, 1935 and had nearly 57 years of marriage together and raised 5 children; Shirley, Lee, Fred, Gerry, and Steven Lance. In 1957 they bought a dairy farm in Addy, WA. At Christmas time in 1964, the old farmhouse burned down. Very few possessions were saved. Everett built a brand new house on the same site. Their grandchildren have many joyful memories of fresh bread, cinnamon rolls, and pies filling the home with wonderful aromas, playing in the hay barn, dirt biking on the hill behind the house, and many special Christmas moments. About 1985 they moved from Spokane to Ferndale where Edna fell in love with the mountains and greenery of everything.
Edna was a great homemaker who sewed clothes for her children, planted many gardens and flowers, loved baking, and was a very talented artist.
Even though arthritis forced her into a battery operated scooter, Edna never let that get in the way of staying active. At Orchard Park she was known as “Speedy.” She went out every Tuesday for lunch, shopping, or a drive through the countryside with her daughter Shirley. Edna will be greatly missed; her smile, her laugh, her humor, by her whole family. Edna had a great love of reading the Bible, and got up at 4 am nearly every morning for years, praying and interceding for her family, her grandchildren, and their families, her siblings and their families. Her passion and commitment to prayer will be truly missed.
Edna is preceded in death by her husband Everett, son Gerry, son-in-law Keith Lotze, siblings and parents. She is survived by her children; daughter Shirley (Ed) Pears, daughter Lee Lotze, son Fred (Melchie), daughter-in-law Sharon (Gerry) and son Steven Lance (Teresa), 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
