Obituary
Edith S. Adie passed away on August 4, 2013 after a brief illness. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother of 4.
Edith was born in Norway on January 26, 1924. She immigrated to Canada with her family at the age of 3 where she grew up in New Westminster, B.C. It was there she met her husband, Frederick Adie, whom she married on April 2, 1947 and then moved to Bellingham where she lived for 58 years. Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Fred, in 1987, after 40 years of marriage.
Edith is survived by her daughter Janice Thiel, son-in-law Jim Thiel, son David Adie, daughter-in-law Parames Adie, and grandsons Jeff and Eric Thiel, and Prabhu and Ravi Adie. She is also survived by her 2 sisters, Hilda Ibbott and Eleanor Smith, and brothers, John Vike and Harry Vike.
Edith was a wonderful mother and had a very close and loving relationship with her 4 grandsons. She was an inspiration to all of us who knew and loved her, and we feel blessed to have had her in our lives.

I remember when Aunt Edie and Uncle Fred took me out for dinner while in the midst of graduate work at the University of Oregon a “few” years ago. I was running out of steam and Aunt Edie’s invitation over the phone was a breath of fresh air. Their kindness and encouragement gave me the impetus to complete a major project that needed a lot of energy and focus that I lacked at that moment. -a model of kindness and a loving memory!
