Obituary

Donna Marie (Stimac) Clark, age 74, passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2018. A true Bellingham girl, she was born on June 17, 1944 and lived her entire life on the shores of Lake Whatcom where she raised two sons. She was passionate about staying busy (workaholic), politics, and raising & racing High Roller Farm Thoroughbred horses with her long-time partner, Bruce Walton. She took pride in delivering children safely to & from school for 30 years. Donna was a conversationalist that often took the stance of ‘my way or the highway’ with an energetic spark. She was quick to help out others and care for her family. She will be missed by all!

She is survived by her son Gary Clark & wife Cindy Clark, son Curtis Clark & wife Jodi Clark, three granddaughters, Kylie Clark, River Clark, & Kamryn Clark, along with sister Dolores Dean (Frank), twin brothers Dan (Kathy) and Duane (Sue) Stimac, 5 nephews Frank Dean, Ryan Stimac, Sean Stimac, Christopher Stimac & Jeffrey Stimac and 1 niece Amy Lagers. She was preceded in death by her parents Emil & Doris Stimac and nephew Scott Dean.

In honor of her love of water & the peace it brings, friends are invited to join us in a Celebration of Donna’s Life held at the Squalicum Boathouse @ Bellingham Harbor on Sunday, September 16th from 12-4:00.

  1. This is hard for me! What a great loss! I went to high school with Donna and cut her hair for about 20 to 30 years until I retired. We had lots of good talks, believe me. What a good person, caring, interesting and busy…Donna didn’t sit still in my chair when I cut her hair. Too much energy I guess. My last 8 years of hairdressing, I had a shop in my home, so Donna had more freedom to show up with her dog and a small dump truck she bought, to show me. WHAT FUN! She spiced up any day you were with her. LOVE YOU DONNA! I will miss you. Gloria (Krein) Moldver

I did not know Donna, but I am a regular reader of obits (carrying on a tradition of my elders). I just wasn’t to thank you for posting such wonderful picture of her. It made me regret not knowing her. The photos showed her joy and, I suspect, love of horses and nature. I’m sending you sympathy and care at this time.

Donna would walk in my office door with “Hey, Clark is here!”. Donna couldn’t help but brighten my day. As we took care of business, we also discussed the problems of the world. Together we whittled our challenges down and acknowledged how fortunate we are, and how life has kept us informed and appreciative.

Donna’s heartfelt appreciation for all animals and nature had a protective awareness that nourished this earth. I believe she found a reason to help someone or something everyday, with her kindness and understanding. The Salt of the Earth, she was.
We cannot replace this Whatcom icon, but hopefully all those that she touched will continue with the lessons she taught us.

  4. I got to know Donna better in the past few years as we often went walking together in the mornings. She definitely made our walks more enjoyable with always having an opinion about everything and everybody. She was definitely a spirited individual with a warm heart. Enjoyed my visits with her at Silverado and was shocked to hear the news of her passing. We lost a great person, RIP my dear friend.
