Obituary

Donna passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Peace Health Hospital in Bellingham, WA. She died of complications related to Parkinson’s Disease.

Donna’s life was marked with a great love for people and especially for her three sons, their families, along with her husband, David, of 22 years. She believed in God, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and a “live and let live” attitude.

Donna was born in Pampa, TX and grew up in Texas and California. She was a good student, all the way to some college. She loved to do bareback horse riding, was part of roller skating couples dancing team, owned her own business but also worked as a secretary, bookkeeper, dispatcher and delivered newspapers. She loved the Golden State Warriors, Kenny Rodgers, and Whitney Houston. She travelled back & forth between California and Washington with her three children, settling in Bellingham with her husband, David in 2005.

David and Donna also served as pastor and wife in three churches in Eastern Washington from 1995-2005.

Her favorite pastimes in her later life was watching “The Price is Right”, “Family Feud”, and being part of the family at First Christian church in Bellingham.

Donna is survived by her three sons: Rich, Mike, and Jon Cavnar, and their families, living in Bellingham and Blaine. Also by her brother, Stan Oliver in California and numerous grandchildren and a few great-grandchildren.

Donna’s memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 17th at 2pm at First Christian Church on 495 E. Bakerview Rd in Bellingham, WA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to First Christian Church or The Parkinson’s Foundation.

My deepest sympathy is with your family. May you gain comfort and strength at this difficult time, Psalm 29:11

  2. Rich, Mike, Jon and family, I am so sad your Mom, such a firecracker, was hampered later in life by her physical condition. I’m pretty sure she ran out of patience with that a long time ago, and just needed to figure out how to get out of Dodge with the least trauma to you all…she did, of course, get her way…Dave, Donna was a special woman. It took a special man (you) to appreciate her for who she was, and not try to rein her in. I’m grateful you two found, and enjoyed, many years together…i’m so sorry she left you so soon, but thankful she left you the way she did, peacefully and not in an unexpected moment.
My thoughts, sorrow, and prayers are with you all…
