Obituary

After 91 amazing years, Dolores Porter passed away with loving family at her side. Born in 1926, she spent her childhood growing up on the prairies of Wolf Point, MT. In 1942, she met the love of her life, Burton Porter, in Everson, WA. During WWII, Burton left to serve his country and Dolores worked as a civilian teletype operator for the Army Signal Corp in Seattle WA. They married in 1946 and spent most of their life in Bellingham raising a family. Dolores worked for Morse Hardware, McBeath Glass, and St. John Glass. For 10 years she was a volunteer at St. Joe’s Hospital. After retirement, they spent many years traveling in their RV until Burton’s death in 2004.

Dolores is survived by her children Jan Porter, Jerry Porter, & Joyce Glenn; grandchildren Julie Andrews, Joe Ackerson, Mark Porter, and Adam Porter; and great-grandchildren Jordan Andrews, Ashley Andrews, Kiersten Porter, and Elsa Ackerson.
We want to thank Highland for their loving care of our mom. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. The Lord has a new angel by his side!

A celebration of her life will be held at Cedar Grove Park – 4915 Samish Way Bellingham on May 12th at 2pm in the clubhouse.

  1. May wonderful memories made with both of your parents.

  2. Our condolences to Dolores’ family. Dolores was such a dear sweet lady and she and Burt were good friends through the high school years of our daughter, Carrie. They opened their home to Carrie, so that she could attend BHS. Each day, Carrie went to Burt and Dolores’ home, where she did her homework and enjoyed conversations with Dolores. She remembers going camping and fishing with Dolores and Burt at Colonial Creek Campground, where she was enlightened in facts of Sasquatch. She is still a firm believer in that mystical creature. Dolores will be missed!

  3. Jan & family, My thoughts & prayers go out to you. May your Faith, Family, Friends & Many Happy Memories help you in the days to come. You have a Very Special Angel looking down on you 24/7. Your Friend In Christ Linda
