Obituary

Dolores Adele (Barthel) Nicholas passed away on July 9th,2023.  A native of Bellingham, she attended Bellingham High School, after which she married her high school sweetheart, Roy.  She was a devoted mother to her three sons, participating in Boy Scouts and PTA.

She worked at the Whatcom County courthouse in the auditor’s department for many years, retiring in 1995.  She was a member of Immanuel Bible Church in Bellingham, and supported her husband in all his professional, social club activities and their Locksmith business.

Dolores was preceded  in death by her husband Roy, parents Leopold and Gertrude (Weissenborn) Barthel and brother Leo Barthel.  She is survived by her sons Richard (Kay), Bryan (Kim), Larry (Karen) and daughter-in-law Jessica; grandchildren Jacob, Joshua, Rachael, Daniel, Rebekah, Nathan, Jessica, Kelly, Samuel and Andrew; and 9 great-grandchildren.
