Obituary

Dennis 67, passed away quietly with wonderful care on April 10, 2015 in Sun City West, AZ. after a courageous battle with ALS. Through the trials of his final days his complaints were none and his jokes were many. He was known for his sense of humor and warm spirit.

He was born in Bellingham,WA. on April 9, 1948 to George A and Maxine A. DeVisscher (Gates) and raised in the Whatcom County area. He married Tanna Alderson on December 5, 1981.

He was preceded in death by his father,George, his mother Maxine and his brother Terry DeVisscher. He is survived by his wife, Tanna and a step-daughter, Karen Alderson, his beloved dog Buddy, along with several extended family members and countless friends.

He attended Bellingham High School, graduated in 1967 in the largest and last class before the city divided the high schools into two different regions. He was a jack-of-all-trades and worked in the film industry, car industry, title, escrow, banking, and construction.

He was a die-hard Washington Husky fan and rarely missed a game over the last 34 years. For years Dennis and Tanna traveled to Mazatlan, Mexico along with friends. For forty plus years, one of his loves was softball and remodeling. He spent many hours pursuing his deep passion for remodeling old homes for resale.

He was always there when you needed him and could fix anything exceptionally well. After retirement, Denny and Tanna purchased their second home in Sun City West, AZ in June 2008 and traveled back and forth as snowbirds until the time of his death. Knowing he had moved his wife to paradise with perfect weather, he remodeled a home that they both enjoyed.

Denny’s constant smile, his easy going nature and his considerate attitude for others, will be deeply missed for all those fortunate enough to have known him. He was widely respected, admired and loved especially for his witty sense of humor by all that who knew him.

One of his best friends was Buddy the dog, whom he adopted in February 2014. Buddy’s name was Snowflake and Denny immediately renamed him Buddy as he stated “no male dog of his would have such a name.”

He was an amazing man and will be missed by many. There is no end to grief……and there is no end to love. I love you Denny and you will always be in my heart. Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure, you are loved beyond words, and missed beyond measure.

  2. Tanna, We were so sorry to hear about Denny’s passing and send our condolences during this difficult time. I pray that you will feel God’s comfort during these difficult days and know that he is there for you. May the memories you share, with friends and family, help you get through the lonely times and bring you strength and peace to be able to reflect on the good times. Although it is hard to let go, he is now in a better place and out of suffering and pain. Lean on our God for comfort “And the Lord shall guide thee continually…” Isaiah 58:11
