Obituary

David Michael Miller first noticed shortness of breath in July of 2015. He would later be diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis and told his time on Earth would be short. From the moment he heard this news, he told everyone he spoke with that God knew his future. It was with this assurance that Dave entered eternity on the morning of October 24th 2015.

David was born on June 6th 1952 in Montclair NJ to Philip and Vieno Miller. He was the youngest of three boys and enjoyed a childhood centered around summers at Lake Hopatcong. In his teens, Dave spent a large amount of his time at the church in Christian Service Brigade and youth group. It was there that he met Colleen Erhard. They married in September of 1978.

For most of his adult life Dave worked as a sheet metal fabricator. He was a part of many projects he was proud of; beautiful copper work that showcased his natural abilities.

David was also very proud of his two children Michelle and Benjamin. When the family moved across country to Washington in 1990, Dave’s passion for the outdoors was shared with them. Together they hiked many mountains, learned to canoe and spent many happy hours in their little pop-up camper.

Those who love Dave are often heard commenting on his friendliness and genuine smile. He was extremely generous with his time and resources. His voice will be missed in worship at church.

David is survived by his wife, Colleen; children, Michelle (Jared) Ott, Ben (Melissa) Miller; grandchildren, Norah, Joshua and James; brothers, Kenn (Carol) Miller and Bill (Kathie) Miller.

A memorial service will be held Saturday October 31 at 1:00 pm at Bellingham Covenant Church, 1530 East Bakerview road. All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bellingham Covenant Church building fund.

Uncle Dave we were thankful for your presence in our family. Your jokes and light-hearted ways made for good family times. You’ll be missed.
    Love, your neice, Kelly.

  2. I’ve only known Dave for a few years and I miss his smile and godly contribution deeply myself. How much more, I’d imagine, you who knew him and loved him for decades must miss him! My prayers and thoughts are with you through this time of loss.

  3. Colleen, Dave was a beautiful soul, with a sense of humor that was wonderful. I relish the last prayer we had at your house with your dog Sadie by his side. I’ll remember always the “whispers” he described from the Holy Spirit in his illness. You’re a wonderful woman, and take care of yourself. Thanks be to God for the hope we have. Peace friend Dave on the journey, and for you friend Colleen.

  4. Jay Johnson says:

I wrote this when we I thought of Dave.
    “Father, welcome me home
    Spirit, fill my empty space
Christ, make a new life in me
You know where my heart lays.

My heart is your this day
You have wrapped a robe around me
And given me a new name
My name is Loved, and I am home”

I miss my Prosigal brother. My prayers are with you Collen, Michelle, Ben and family. Jay

    Miller Family,
I just happened upon Dave’s obituary and was shocked to hear of his passing. I worked with him at Andgar from 2004 to 2009. He was a wonderful man and was amazing at his craft. Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. He will be sorely missed.
