Resident of Nooksack, WA.

Darwin Albert Greenfield, age 65, passed away peacefully on August 26, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Darwin was born on July 20 1949 in Bellingham and grew up in Custer until his family moved to California. At the age of 18 he enlisted in the Army where he served in Vietnam as a member of the 1st Calvary Division.

After leaving the Army he returned to Whatcom County where he met and married his wife of 44 years, Marilyn, in 1970. Darwin worked at Georgia Pacific for 30 years and then when the mill closed found his second career as a school bus driver for the Bellingham School District until his retirement in 2012. He loved to fish and spend time with his family.

Darwin is survived by his wife Marilyn, son Shane(Ann), daughter Christina, granddaughters Sierra and Thalia, sister Sally Fields, sister-in-laws Sharon Harriss and Sue( Doug)Gerbing, and special family members Brenda Martinez and Melissa Rodriguez. Darwin, we will forever miss your tender, loving spirit. Rest in peace my love. A private family service will be held at a later date to celebrate his life.
