Daniel had many friends and relatives both local and far who hecared about deeply and remained in contact with. He loved sports and excelled from early age in both baseball and basketball. He coached basketball at the middle and high school levels in Metlakatla.

In later life he organized adult league fast pitch baseball for Whatcom County WA and lower B.C. Canadian teams. He was the family historian honoring both his Native and Scandinavian roots. A true teacher, Dan taught grades K-8th in Metlakatla for 10 years, as well as teaching for Lummi tribal schools. A passionate musician, Daniel played drums and organized several bands. He loved his music. A passionate Pickleball player, Dan introduced the sport to Metlakatla and attended league play throughout SE Alaska. A lover of many things he enjoyed all kinds of experiences. He perfected baking the chocolate chip cookie and always knew where to find the best chocolate cakes. Many loved him and we miss him so, we weren’t ready for him to leave us. 1. Thank you for the exposure to live rock and roll music. I’ll never forget how awesome it was watching your band growing up, fly well uncle Dan!

I can’t believe he is gone. We both shared our love for The Beatles and played 3 wonderful Beatles tribute concerts together. I’ll miss his kind ways and sense of humor. Rest in peace my friend.

  3. I was working in my shop and got the call about your passing, it stopped me in my tracks and I was done for the day. Life has a way of reminding you how precious every day is and with your passing I feel I’ve taken a step back to Re-evaluate my life and bucket list. Our time that we spent together was always a great time, we were both just out of high school and trying to figure out what we were going to do with our lives. I remember we didn’t try out at Shoreline community College and the coach saw us playing and couldn’t figure out why we didn’t try out. Both of us were scoring close to 30 pts a game. I watched my 1st pro game with you, the Seattle Sonics against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Lenny Wilkins was a fabulous guard.
When you came to Met we had some great times playing City League. Your quiet way about you maid you who you were! Always had a little smile going, it was always nice to see you. Until we meet again Cuz RIP! It’s still hard to believe your gone!

    1. I had to be the oldest follower of the Tribute. Loved watching all of your talents , amazing for our Community. You sincerely loved music. I remember you and Roxanne on your “electric bikes” and always your kind smile. Love you and so sorry Roxanne ❤️

  4. My heart was so sad when I learned about the passing of Danny, our cousin and friend. Danny was always smiling, so fun to spend time with, and such a good and kind person. I loved the music he made with his band BuckWheat Elvis. He was definitely talented and I’m grateful he was always willing to share his musical talent with all of us. Roxy, Debbie, Tammy, and David, you have been in our thoughts and prayers and we ask that the comfort of the Lord will be with you at this difficult time. We love you.
