Obituary

Dale Wayne Hoksbergen passed away peacefully on October 18, 2024.  Dale was born on September 22, 1952, to Howard and Billie Hoksbergen in Bellingham Washington. Along with his 2 younger sisters, Sherri and Linda, Dale was raised in Ferndale. During his school years, Dale’s love for sports began.  He played basketball on several teams as well as golf with friends, including the school principal.

He graduated from Ferndale High school in 1970 and married his high school sweetheart Pam Johnston on June 10, 1972.

Dale and Pam welcomed their first daughter Kimberlee on December 5, 1973, and daughter Jodi followed on December 11, 1975. Dale and Pam raised their family in Ferndale in the same house Dale was raised in, before moving to North Bellingham where they lived for 35 years.

Dale was a volunteer firefighter for the Ferndale fire department while working at Intalco Aluminum Corporation for 35 years. He was an avid U of W football fan, holding season tickets since 1982.  Dale retired in 2006, and he and Pam enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends as well as countless rounds of golf.

After retiring Dale embraced the life of grandpa with the birth of his grandchildren Wyatt, Cole, Caden and Mia.  If Dale wasn’t visiting them or watching their sports games, you could find him and Pam on the golf course or traveling with friends.

Dale is survived by his wife of 52 years, Pam, father Howard Hoksbergen, daughters Kim (Nathan) Burke and Jodi (Collin) Murphy. As well as sisters Sherri Akana and Linda (Steve) Brannon, Grandchildren Wyatt and Caden Murphy and Cole and Mia Burke of as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Dale is preceded in death by his mother Billie (Breuer) Hoksbergen.

The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Christian Health Care Center of Lynden for taking such good care of Dale and our family for the last 15 months.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ferndale Fire Department or Christian Health Care Center of Lynden.
