Obituary

Dale Robert Gienger passed away peacefully on March 18, 2022, at the Whatcom Hospice House.

Dale was preceded in death by his father David Gienger. He is survived by his loving mother Linell Gienger, who has walked this difficult journey with him for 47 years, and his sisters Terri Call of Blaine, WA and Pam Aarons (Todd) of Laveen, AZ. Dale is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Dale was born on November 7, 1953, to David and Linell Gienger in Tacoma, WA. He graduated from Meadowdale High School in Edmonds, WA. He then joined the United States Navy. Shortly thereafter, Dale started struggling with mental illness and was honorably discharged.

He spent the remainder of his life in Whatcom County. Dale enjoyed his jobs at Ebe Farms, and he also worked as a janitor for the US Customs and Border Protection. Dale volunteered for various nonprofits, including We Care and the Bellingham Food Bank. Dale found enjoyment in reminiscing about his fond memories of times spent on the farm, his car, and his grandparents. Dale loved rock-n-roll music, movies, and enjoyed drives out to the farm in Lynden.

We would like to give our heartfelt thanks to all the medical staff that have cared for Dale over the past weeks, and we would like to especially give our thanks to the caring nurses and staff at Hospice House. The compassionate care you gave both Dale and our family while he was there, will forever be remembered.

A graveside service will be held at Greenacres Memorial Park on April 21st at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Whatcom Hospice Foundation.
