Obituary

Colin Elliott Howser, 49, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Bellingham, WA on Saturday, November 18. He was born in Ellensburg, WA on September 20, 1968 to Robert Lyle Howser and Nancy Paris Howser.

His family moved from Ellensburg to Lewiston, ID in 1974 and he graduated from Lewiston High school in 1987. He attended college and then joined the Navy where he served 4 years before being honorably discharged in 1994 when he moved to the Seattle area. He then went on to get his Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA. After getting married and graduating in 1999, he went back to Idaho for several years with his family and finally returned to Bellingham in 2007. He spent his post-degree career in the newspaper business as a sports writer and copy editor.

Colin left his mark in this world. He was smart, funny, charming, honest to a fault. You never had to wonder how he really felt but he had a huge heart. He also had a knack for making people laugh and it was a good feeling to make him do the same. He was one-of-a-kind, and he will be missed greatly by everyone who knew him. He loved cooking, music, and just hanging with friends and family.

Colin was preceded in death by his father Robert Howser (2010) and is survived by his sons, Max (16) and Roman (11) with their mother Genevieve Howser, his mother Nancy Howser, older brother Ruskyle Howser (Yasuko), older sisters Erin Dodson (Layne) and Brie Ventre (Joel), nieces Elyse, Jojo and Jade, nephew Jared, grandniece Wylie and grandnephew Brody.

A private memorial gathering will happen spring ’18.
