Obituary

Claudia Anne Wedepohl of Bellingham, WA went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 6, 2021. Claudia was born on September 26, 1947 in Portland, OR; the first of three daughters.

She married Merlin Wedepohl, Jr. on August 25, 1968 in Vancouver, WA having met at Concordia Lutheran College in Portland. They moved to Seward, NE where Claudia worked to assist Merlin in finishing his BA in education.

Their first child, Jeffrey, was born in Clarinda, IA and second son, Justin, was born in Porterville, CA.  Claudia worked various office positions as Merlin and she moved throughout California.  In 1989 Claudia developed a seven guest room Bed and Breakfast in Napa, CA within an 1893 Queen Anne Victorian house. She furnished the house with furniture of the period and decorated accordingly.  Claudia was a creative cook and did all the cooking for their many guests over the years. After selling this successful establishment, she worked several executive positions: Registrar at a small college, house manager for Francis Ford Coppola, and finally Compliance Manager for Napa Valley Community Housing.

Claudia was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Norma Greco. She is survived by her husband of almost 53 years, Merlin Wedepohl, her two sisters, Marcia Wehling and Teresa (Steve) Greco, half-brother Randall (Connie) Greco, as well as her sons Jeffrey Wedepohl and wife Maria, and Justin Wedepohl and wife Crystal, along with six grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.

Claudia will be buried at Greenacres Memorial Park in Ferndale, WA.

The family wishes to thank all of Claudia’s caregivers at Gracious Living Adult Family Care Home and Whatcom Hospice for their loving and professional attention to her needs. Merlin’s sister Anne and husband David Huber have also been exceptionally supportive during these past years as Claudia struggled with PSP. In lieu of flowers, please give a donation to Trinity Lutheran Church where Merlin and Claudia are members.

  2. Dear Wedepohl family,
My condolences on the loss of such a wonderful lady. She worked for me at NVCH until her retirement and she was missed by everyone when she left. She had an eye for detail whether in rules and regulations or graphics. My thoughts are with you.
    My sincerest sympathy,
    Kathleen Reynolds
