Obituary

Chuck W. Eggert passed away suddenly at his home on June 25, 2017 at the age of 64. He was born in Bellingham to Marven and Arlene Eggert on July 10, 1952 and was a resident of Whatcom County for most of his life.

He graduated from Bellingham High in 1971 and began working for Whatcom County Road Department in the surveying division and then worked in construction as a truck driver. His next job was with Intalco where he was an employee and Union Shop Stewart.

Chuck had a desire to help others which was a good fit for the next chapter in his career. In 1988, he started working for Teamsters Local 231 as a Union Representative and was proud to follow in his father’s footsteps in 2002 when he was elected Secretary Treasurer. He held that position until he retired in 2011. He served on the Joint Council of Teamsters #28 as Vice President and as a board member for various organizations.

He was a Reserve Deputy for Whatcom County, a Volunteer Firefighter and Commissioner for Lake Samish Fire District, and also served as Lake Samish Community President.

Anyone who has ever been a neighbor of Chuck’s would testify that he was the ultimate neighbor. If you have a problem, need, or want…just call Chuck.

From his balcony, he loved watching sunsets and all the boat activity on Bellingham Bay.

Nothing brought him more joy then spending time with his daughter and grandchildren. His devotion to them was immeasurable. Quincy, his grandson, was his first love and 6 years later when his twin granddaughters, Johnny and Charly arrived, he fell in love twice over.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Marven and Arlene; sister, Christine Martin; and his beloved son-in-law John Nourse.

He is survived by his daughter, Tawna Eggert; three grandchildren, Quincy, Johnny, and Charly Eggert; sister, Leslie Jones; brother, Bill Eggert; and four nieces and their families.

Also, his loving companion, Marcia Mallahan, and his former spouse Dawn Eggert.

A celebration of Chuck’s life will be held on Thursday, July 13th at 2pm at Cornwall Church in Bellingham.

In lieu of flowers, Chuck’s request was to have donations made to the Quincy, Johnny, & Charly College Fund. For distribution into the grandkids college account, please make checks out to Carrie Adelstein and send to 1512 N. State St., Bellingham, WA 98225.
