Obituary

Christina Inga Johnson Tucker, known to her loved ones as Chris, passed away on March 29th, 2025, surrounded by her family. Chris was born to Mary and Daniel Johnson on January 29th, 1950, in Port Townsend, Washington.

A proud graduate of Sehome High School, Class of 1968, Chris went on to attend Western Washington State College, where she met the love of her life, Richard “Dick” Tucker. The two were married on September 12, 1982, in Bellingham, Washington.

Chris worked at Northwestern Commercial Bank, but her greatest pride came from caring for her home and family. She was the glue of the household, remembering every detail and making everything run smoothly. Chris had a gift for cooking and was always trying new recipes or adding her own special twist to family meals.

She had many passions, including gardening, where she proudly knew the botanical names of every plant in her yard. She had a voracious appetite for books and was always in the middle of one, with more waiting on the shelf. Chris loved to travel—she took several trips to Europe—but her favorite place was always Cannon Beach, Oregon.

Christmas was especially dear to her. She loved to decorate and never met a Christmas ornament she didn’t love. She was also known for saving bows to use again.

Chris will be remembered for her independence, sharp mind, and ability to always be right. Most of all, she will be missed for being that steady loving presence that held her family together.

She is survived by her husband, Dick Tucker of Bellingham; her son, Christopher Tucker; her daughter, Laura Hulten, and husband Kyle; and her grandsons, Jack and Luke Hulten; her brother, Mike Johnson, and his wife, Debbie.

Chris was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Daniel Johnson.

  1. Condolences to Chris’s family and friends.
I worked with Chris at Northwestern Commercial Bank in the late 70’s and early 80’s. It was my first banking job and she taught me so much. She was always ready to join in for all our young craziness. She will be missed.

My deepest condolences to all of the Tucker family. I was so saddened to learn about Chris. I met Chris through the Veterinary Hospital that I worked at for many years, where they brought their sweet dog, Charlie. I also was fortunate enough to be able to take care of him many times during those years and he even came to my home to stay several times. I so enjoyed walking around her beautiful gardens. Chris was such a sweet person and her passing is so very sad.
