Fran is survived by her son, Tsi,li, xw William A. James; sisters: Ernestine Gensaw, Rena Ballew, and Beverly (Jack) Cagey; brother Glen Lane and numerous nieces, and nephews.
Culturally survived by many sons, daughters, nieces, nephews, grandkids and great grandkids.

Fran shared her life and knowledge with everyone and taught all that wanted to learn. A few of her favorite sayings were “Weaving together the fabric of our lives” and “Just make it.”

The community is gathering each evening until the day of services at the the Wexliem Community Building. Open casket visitation will be Wednesday, May 1, 3:00 PM-6:00 PM at Moles Ferndale with a prayer service following. A Funeral Mass will be Thursday, May 2 at 10:00 AM at St. Joachim Catholic Church at Lummi Nation with burial to follow in Lummi Nation Cemetery. Lunch will be at Wexliem

  1. Thank you Fran for your gifts as an artist and as a teacher of so many. You were and are still a role model of how we should live, how it is so important to keep our hands busy. Blessings to Bill and all of your family.

    Fran and Bill, My thoughts are with you both. Fran, the wonderful teacher and artist with the gentle encouragement and obvious love for her craft and the learners who loved her art and humanity. My thoughts are with you Bill, and all the Lummi Nation who have lost a true angel.

  3. I have known Francis since we were children. Ialways admired her, We used to catch the school bus together and play together. She will be missed.

  4. Bill, I remember your kindness when I visited your home with Renee Quaempts and you and your dear Mother gave us the fern fossils. My prayers are with you in this time of sadness but good memories will always be with you. Pat

  5. Sending Prayers to the family… Aunt Fran will be missed by many… I will miss her smiling face when she’d come down for Makah Day’s. Love and Prayers Cheryl Pitchford and Family (Bertha Lane-smith) was my great grandmother.
