Obituary

Mom passed away peacefully into the arms of her Heavenly Father on August 27th, 2015. She was born in Bellingham to Charles and Lowell (Bell) Bourn. She grew up in the small town of Glacier, graduated from Mt. Baker High School class of 1943. Known as “Boogie ” to friends and family she joined the war effort as a resident of the lookout at Austin Pass watching for enemy aircraft. While on this assignment as met her future husband Robert, a member of the CCC’s. Charlotte was a devout Christian and served as pianist, organist and music director for several churches. There was always room at her table and in 1975 she opened her home to three Vietnamese boys. They learned english, got jobs, married and became productive members of our community. Today there are many Vietnamese who knew her only as “Mom”. Charlotte loved to travel, across town, north to Alaska, Arizona, Florida, or over the ocean to Norway and beyond. Her last travels were annual trips as a volunteer to KJNP Christian Radio and TV station at North Pole Alaska. Growing up in Glacier was always on her mind, and she loved to share stories of days gone by. Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband Robert, daughter Lowie and grand daughter Jill,, three sisters and three brothers. Charlotte is survived by her children Charlene ( Ron) Lukes, Janel Bernardy, Stan ( Cathy ) Kvistad, Pat Kvistad, 13 grandchildren and 22 great grand children. A celebration of Charlotte’s life will be held 1:00pm Saturday September 5, 2015, at Greenacres Memorial Park Chapel, 5700 Northwest Avenue, Ferndale, Wa. 98248.
