Obituary

Charles Biagi, age 83, passed away in his home in Bellingham, WA on December 30, 2022, after a long battle with kidney disease and a recent diagnosis of stomach cancer. He was born December 23, 1939, in Detroit, Michigan to parents Charles and Dina (Marchioni) Biagi.

He is survived by his wife Carol of 40 years; step-son Benjamin (Christine) Sutton; grandsons Colin (Kinzie) Sutton and Kyle Sutton; great-grandsons Jedson, Jericho, Brayden, and Mason Sutton; Sister-in-law Linda (Steve) Wilkins, Brothers-in-law Duane Honrud, David (Marie) Honrud, Tom Ludack, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister Carolyn (Biagi) Ludack. Chuck grew up in Detroit, Michigan where he attended Berkley High School and Wayne State University where he received his bachelor’s and graduate degrees in chemical engineering.  He began his working career at Monsanto and lived for a time in St. Louis, Missouri, then moved to Concord, California where he went to work for Hallanger Engineers as a chemical engineer and continued in that field for the remainder of his working career.

He met his wife, Carol, in 1979 in Bellingham, where they both worked for the same company. They were married in 1982 and spent about 16 years in Danville, California then moved back to Bellingham, WA prior to retirement.  Chuck’s two favorite hobbies were woodworking and bridge.  He built furniture, toys, exotic wood cutting boards, etc. and he and Carol both enjoyed traveling to bridge (particularly the one every summer in Penticton, BC).  He also enjoyed road trips and was especially fond of the Southwest.  Several recent winters were spent in Yuma, AZ.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.  A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Moles Greenacres, 5700 Northwest Drive, Ferndale, WA 98248.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Whatcom Hospice or the National Kidney Foundation.
