Obituary

Charles Addison Taylor was born in 1919 to Leo and Irene Taylor in Princeton, MN. He grew up in South Dakota near Parkston and met his future wife, Patricia Patterson, while still in high school. When World War II broke out he was working for Douglas Aircraft in Santa Monica, CA. He and Pat were married in June of 1943, just before Chuck entered the Navy. He served as an Aviation Metalsmith repairing aircraft in Hawaii at Hilo and in Seattle at the Sand Point Naval Air Station on Lake Washington.

Upon discharge from the Navy he returned to work in the aircraft industry eventually going to work for Boeing. Chuck and Pat settled in Houghton (which was later annexed to Kirkland). They bought a home and raised four kids. Chuck earned his engineering degree from the University of Washington in 1955. He continued to work for Boeing as an engineer until his retirement, having spent a total of 37 years at Boeing.

Pat preceded him in death in 1981. After his retirement Chuck moved to Ferndale to live with his son and daughter-in-law in 1992. His retirement allowed him time with his grandkids and his shop, where he could use his legendary skills to fix anything. His interests were wide-ranging, and he loved helping people.

He was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer which eventually took his life on August 2, 2012 at his home in Ferndale, surrounded by family and friends, at 7:47 AM, a fitting tribute to a Boeing engineer who had a little bit to do with nearly everything Boeing has in the air.

He is survived by his sister, Mary Wass, and brother, John Taylor, who both reside in Minnesota; his four kids, Lori Taylor, Wesley and his wife Janice Taylor, Molly and her husband Dave Crocker, and Kinshan and her husband Mike Head; and five grandchildren.
