Obituary

Cecil Wayne Rogers, 83, passed away on July 7th, 2015 in Bellingham, WA. He was the husband of Joyce Rogers. They shared nearly 57 precious years together.

Born in Hobart, Kiowa County, Oklahoma, Cecil was the son of James Elonso Rogers and Clara Belle Yount. He graduated from Hobart High School and was a veteran of the Korean War. After acting as supervisor at the Arco Cherry Point Refinery in Ferndale for 5 years, he transferred to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska for 10 years before retiring. He returned to Cherry Point Refinery and then became a safety rep at R.S.S.I. until 2006. Cecil attended Christ Community Church and belonged to the SALT Bible Study Group. Some hobbies he enjoyed were fishing, golf, tinkering on machines, sports, and shooting pool at the Bellingham Senior Activity Center.
We will remember Cecil for his smile, work ethic, and leadership.

Preceding Cecil in death is David Alan Rogers.
Survivors include his wife Joyce; daughters, Jami Lynn Sant-McMillan and her husband Ron, and Caryn Lee Waters and her husband Jim; grandchildren, Nickole Lynn Kirk, Stephanie Ann Kirk, Justin Wayne Sant, and Tyler James Sant, and his great-grand daughter Jadyn Claire Petersen.

The memorial service will be held on Friday, 7/10 at 2:30pm at Moles Greenacres (5700 Northwest Drive Ferndale) followed by a reception at Christ Community Church (4600 Guide Meridian, Bellingham).
Memorial donations may be made to Whatcom Hospice.

  1. To Jami,Joyce, Caryn and family,So sorry for the loss of Cecil .I have many great memories of him growing up and will always remember his laugh and smile. I know he’s in heaven surrounded by family and friends that have passsed before him. I can just picture him,my dad, and David getting ready for football season so they can watch together like old times.
