Obituary

Carolyn Rae Hanson was born to Margaret and Millard Smith on October 29th ,1941 in Bellingham, Washington. She passed away at Whatcom Hospice House on October 2nd,2024.

Carolyn worked for 24 years as a title one aid for the Bellingham School District, tutoring students in various subjects. She was extremely adventurous and loved the outdoors that included hunting, fishing, camping, canoeing, riding quads. She also enjoyed going to the beach combing through the shells and finding agates, glass balls and wood burls with many close friends and family and her beloved husband Larry of 64 years.

Carolyn was an avid gardener and spent many hours tending to her various flowers and Japanese garden, complete with a koi pond. She was a member of the Evergreen Quilt Guild and was incredibly talented at creating many beautiful quilts and was loved so much by her quilting friends. She was also a member of the Mount Baker Motorcycle Club for many years.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband Larry K. Hanson on July 22nd, 2023. She is survived by her daughter Tammi Rae Ramsey (Ted) of Bellingham and Son Gregory Allen Hanson (Suzette) of Bend, Oregon.

Carolyn was Loved dearly, by so many people and will be greatly missed by all those who knew her. A memorial service will be held for Carolyn at Moles Farewell Tributes Greenacres in Ferndale on October 23rd, 2024, at 11:00 AM.

  1. I am so very sorry for your loss. Carolyn was one of my regular para riders on WTA and she was just wonderful. I know she missed her late husband dearly and I hope it brings some comfort knowing they are now together.
