Obituary

Carl Kevin Black, 60, of Lynden, WA, passed away on October 17th, 2024, in Bellingham, WA at the Whatcom Hospice House. He was surrounded by family and friends during his final battle against stage IV liver cancer.

Carl was born in Fort Rucker, Alabama to Jerry and Irmtraud Glock Black on January 23rd, 1964. Carl graduated from Park Hill High School in 1982 in Kansas City Missouri. He married his wife Karole Maag Black on July 27, 1989, in Las Vegas where they had a small family ceremony. He was married for 35 years to the love of his life. Carl graduated from Saint Leo University in Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems.

Carl proudly enlisted in the US Coast Guard and served 28 years where he eventually reached the rank of Chief Warrant Officer grade IV.  After retirement, Carl continued his Coast Guard work in the Seattle region as a civilian intelligence officer.  He loved his work and the friends he worked with during his 40 years of service.

Carl was preceded in death by his mother Irmtraud Black. Carl is survived by his wife Karole and their three children Tyler, Brandyn, and Morgan, fur baby Maple, sisters Christina and Colleen, Father Jerry Black, and many more wonderful family and friends.

Memorials may be given to the Whatcom Hospice House or a charity of your choosing. A celebration of life and military honors will be held December 15th, 2024, at the Squalicum Boat House located at 2600 Harbor Loop, Bellingham, WA between 3-5 pm.
