Brian Curtus Owen, a dedicated member of the community, passed away, leaving behind a legacy defined by his passion for learning and his devotion to his interests.
Brian’s academic journey was marked by his love for Spanish. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish from Central Michigan University and pursued a Master of Arts in Spanish from Michigan State University. He later became a Spanish lecturer at Central Michigan University, impacting the lives of many students.
Outside academia, Brian found joy in various activities. He loved cooking, spending time outdoors, and engaging in hobbies like gaming, gardening, and listening to music with his children. He had a close-knit circle of friends and valued the time spent within his community.
Brian was known for his intelligence, empathy, humor, and a genuine appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. His free-spirited nature and open-mindedness allowed him to see the good in people, making him a positive influence in his community and with his students.
As a father, Brian shared his interests with his children, creating lasting memories together. His legacy will be remembered through his kindness, intellectual curiosity, and unwavering optimism that touched the lives of those around him.
Brian is predeceased by his step-dad Bill.
Brian is survived by his parents, Larry Owen and Kathy Usilton, his loving children Melody and Gabriel Owen, his half-sister Jessica Owen and half-brother Chris Owen.
