Obituary
Brenda Lee Sims, age 52, passed away at home on May 22, 2021 after a 2 year fight with cancer. She was born on September 29, 1968 to LeVerne and Jackie McAfee in Tacoma, WA. Brenda graduated from Bellingham High School in 1986 and had resided in Custer for the last 24 years. Over the years she worked as a cashier, postal carrier, bookkeeper, and paraeducator at Custer Elementary School. Brenda loved family time, and was happiest outside in the sun, relaxing on the beach, camping and being with her grandchildren. She loved her family unconditionally and would do anything for them. She was the best Gaga around and would never miss a chance to spoil her grandchildren.
Brenda is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her boyfriend, Darren Pace, daughters; Nicole Sims (Skyler Steg), and Megan Sims (Luke Robinson), brother Rodney McAfee, grandsons; Izaiah and Addison, granddaughters; Amayah and Aviannah, along with a large family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Brenda will be remembered for her generosity, caring heart, and selfless personality. Never once was Brenda known to complain or put herself before others, no matter what battles she faced. As she fought every day with a smile and positive outlook, she inspired everyone around her to never give up and never stop fighting. Her memory will live on in so many people’s hearts as a loving mom and partner, passionate friend, proud Gaga (Grandma) and a supportive family member.
There will be a memorial service June 11th that you are invited to watch via Zoom at 12:00pm using the meeting ID: 864 2354 6857 with the passcode: Brenda.
A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 at 6622 Enterprise Road, Ferndale WA 98248.
