Obituary

Brenda Lee Bjornson Akre, born on May 10th, 1960, in Tacoma, Washington, to Lyle and Dorothy Bjornson, passed away on October 12th, 2024, in Bellingham, Washington.

Brenda married the love of her life, Darryl Akre, on August 30th, 2003. Together, they raised four children: Brandy, Alex, Holly, and Lisa. She was also a beloved grandmother to nine grandchildren, who cherished their time with her, especially on outings to farmers markets and berry-picking adventures.

Brenda was a dedicated employee at St. Joseph’s Medical Center, where she worked for over 34 years in the housekeeping department and eventually reaching her role as a manager. Her strong work ethic and devotion to her job reflected her steadfast and caring nature.

She loved travelling to Mexico and visiting Spaghetti Factories in different states with her family. Darryl fondly recalls their walks around Lake Padden and fishing trips, but above all, Brenda’s greatest gift was the immense love she had for everyone in her life.

Brenda enjoyed cooking and baking for her loved ones and was always ready to share a meal or a sweet treat. She loved shopping with her friends and finding new treasures, especially at Bath & Body Works. She will be remembered as caring, thoughtful, gregarious, and loyal, with a desire to care for others.

Brenda is survived by her husband, Darryl Akre; her children, Brandy Millerman, Alex Ortega, Holly Young, and Lisa White; her nine grandchildren; and four nieces and nephews. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, whose warmth and generosity would be deeply missed.

A memorial service to honor Brenda’s life will be held at Moles Farewell Tributes located at 2465 Lakeway Dr. in Bellingham on November 1st at 11AM followed by a Celebration of Life.
