Obituary
Bonnie Lee (Henifin) Pike passed away peacefully July 16, 2024 at age 98. Bonnie was born to Arthur and Chloe Henifin in O’Neill Nebraska. Some years later the family moved to Bellingham WA.
In her younger years Mom worked in retail in downtown Bellingham and again while raising her children. In her late 40’s she started college at Whatcom Community College and also took courses at Western Washington University, earning her AA degree in Early Childhood Development. Her career included starting Lummi Head Start Preschool in Lummi Nations, establishing a daycare preschool at Hillcrest Church in Fairhaven, and opening and operating Lincoln Log Daycare/Preschool in the Carl Cozier neighborhood for several years. Before retiring in the mid 90’s she worked for Visiting Nurses as a Home Health Aide.
Over the years Mom enjoyed services at several churches until she found it too difficult to attend. She continued to keep others in her prayers and joined a Bible study group with folks from Woodrose Sr. Apts. Bonnie enjoyed potluck get-togethers at Woodrose and loved baking cakes to celebrate monthly
birthdays.
Mom’s favorite pastimes were watching evening game shows, including Jeopardy, and gardening in her little raised flower beds at Woodrose. She loved reading, especially the Murder She Wrote series as well as biographies. She volunteered many hours maintaining a small library at Woodrose.
Mom loved visits from her family and looked forward to family get-togethers and celebrations. Mom’s four children will remember her as a hard-working mother with an immense capacity for showing unconditional love and fortitude.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Lloyd Henifin and her brother Bill Henifin. She is survived by her four children: Cheryl (Pike) Kenoyer, Jeannie (Pike) Bremer, Jim Pike and Jill (Pike) Taylor along with grandchildren Sonny Pike, Becky (Bremer) Armstrong, Nathan Kenoyer, Brian Pike, Katie Pike, Annie Kenoyer, and Zoe Taylor Sturtz. Also numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews.
A private celebration will be held at a later date. Our family would like to thank Rosewood Villa for their care and concern for our dear mom the past year. Donations may be made to Hospice of Whatcom Co.

Grandma, I love you so much, you were an amazing mother, worker, friend, business owner, God fearing woman.
I am blessed to have been your granddaughter.
I hope you are smiling, free of pain and soaring with the angels.
