Obituary

Elizabeth Marie (Harlan) Staggs born August 24, 1923 in Seattle, WA, passed away May 27, 2013 in Bellingham, WA.

A longtime Bellingham resident, Betty graduated from Bellingham High School with the class of 1941. She enjoyed working for the County Hospital and Western Washington University before her retirement.

Betty had a sweet, gentle, giving heart and dearly loved her family and friends. Her Bun Club friends will especially remember her as they reminisce over the many years of lunch and fellowship together. Class reunions were always a highlight of the summer. Betty was a member of Central Lutheran Church.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents William Edwin and Marie (Johns) Harlan; brothers Charles William and Richard Hugh, as well as her beloved husband Gene Boyd Staggs.

She is survived by her brother, Robert Johns Harlan, and sister-in-law Marion Clinard Harlan. There are also numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

A special thanks to all her friends who faithfully spent time with Betty. The family appreciates care given by the staff at Spring Creek Retirement Community and Whatcom Hospice House.

A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM, Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at Central Lutheran Church, 925 Forest St. in Bellingham. Pastor Timothy Whiteman will officiate.
