Obituary
Betty Jefferson, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, who was born in Bellingham, Washington on November 23rd, 1932, passed away peacefully in Bellingham, Washington on September 26th, 2024, at the age of 91.
Betty was married to her husband, Bonnie Jefferson, on May 9, 1951, on the Lummi Nation Reservation in Bellingham. She graduated from Ferndale High School, and continued her education at the University of Seattle, where she dedicated her career to nurturing children in daycare.
Betty loved traveling, visiting casinos, working in her garden and tending to her flowers, even though she made the yard too big. She was a devout member of St. Joachim Catholic Church and enjoyed driving Father Kahn around town. She also loved shopping for bath towels and had so many bath towels stacked up in her bathroom!
Betty’s family will always remember the day she set the field on fire, embarrassed them with an oversized bow on her head, and wore her husband’s work clothes at a basketball game.
She leaves behind her daughters Bj, Mary Ann, and Patti, and son Marty, along with nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Betty is preceded in death by her loving husband Bonnie, her parents Bertha and Norman Bliss, and her siblings James and Barbara Bliss.

So sorry to hear of my dear friend Betty passing to the Lord. She was such a wonderful servant of the Lord as sacristan at St Joachim’s for so many years. May the good Lord welcome her into the joy of eternal life.
Be assured of my prayers at this time for Betty and her family who mourn her death at this sad time.. Fr Pat SJ
