Obituary

Betty Josephine (Erlandson) Senuty, age 92, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 28, 2019. She was born on September 18, 1926 and raised in Bellingham, WA, the daughter of the late Emil and Agnes Erlandson.

Betty attended Bellingham High School and graduated from Shaw Business College. She worked as a medical transcriptionist for local heart doctors in Bellingham. An avid golfer, Betty spent many hours golfing and traveling the world to play. This included a tournament in Bermuda where she won the championship trophy, which was a highlight of her life.  She was an active member at Northwest Baptist Church, until her health declined. She was extremely proud of her Norwegian heritage and was well known for her lefsa making skills. She even took the time to teach one of her great-grandchildren how to make lefsa for a school project.

Betty is survived by her two sisters, Shirley Watts of Bellingham and Jeanette Stevens of Mt. Vernon, her daughter Ann Griewahn (John) Harmon of Lynden, grandchildren Amy (Chris) Martinez of Bellingham, Tricia (Ken) Gates of Ferndale, great-grandchildren Erica (Loren) McWilliams of Custer, Makenzie (Trevon) Myhre of Everson, Madison Gates of Lynden, Caden Martinez and Blake Martinez of Ferndale, along with her 6 great-great grandchildren, Camden, Asher, Nora, Bella, Trayce and Tripp. She was preceded in death by her father Emil Erlandson, mother Agnes Solvig Erlandson, infant son Kenneth Frank Griewahn Jr, and siblings Leroy and Richard Erlandson.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday September 14, 2019 at 1:00pm at Northwest Baptist Church (3545 Northwest Ave. Bellingham, WA 98225). A reception to celebrate Betty’s life will follow at 660 Beard Rd. Lynden, WA 98264. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Northwest Baptist Church in her honor.
