Obituary

Bettie Jo (Sias) Canela passed away July 12, 2024, in Lynden, Washington.

Bettie was born October 6, 1935, in Muskogee, Oklahoma.  Her parents were Hugh and Mildred Sias.  The family moved to Long Beach, California when Bettie was still a child.  After her formative years, she worked in food service and always retained an interest in recipes.

Bettie was a caring and nurturing soul who raised daughter Kathy, and sons David and Mark.  She was always steadfast in her love of family.

Eventually, Bettie followed her granddaughter Samantha to Arcata, California.  Here Bettie worked as a security guard in the lumber business.  She was able to purchase a home that she kept as neat as a pin.

Bettie was curious and willing to try new things.  She enjoyed challenging jigsaw puzzles, arts and crafts, John Wayne movies, and collecting elephants.

Bettie was pre-deceased by her parents and daughter Kathy.

Bettie is survived by her sons, three granddaughters (Samantha, Jada, Daisy Mae), and three great granddaughters (Amanda, Megan, Jenna).  They continue to hold Bettie’s memory in their hearts.
